The government of Zimbabwe through the minister of education has issued a chilling warning to Headmasters who are planning to increase fees.
Education in Zimbabwe is set to suffer a major drawback as costs of running schools continue to escalate.
This has been attributed to rising inflation as the local currency continue to depreciate against the United States Dollar.
Disposable incomes of employees cannot match the rise in fees as the government and most private employers are reluctant to adjust employees’ earnings. MDC secretary for Education Ms Fadzi Mahere confirmed the development:
The Minister of Education has issued a threat against any head who increases fees without authority. He says that no fee increases have been authorized.
“Any school heads who hike fees without authorisation will be fired,” he said.
